First dengue death in Lucknow, 28 fresh cases
The first dengue death of the year has been reported in Lucknow, India. The patient, a 30-year-old resident, had been suffering from high-grade fever and retro-orbital pain. They had multiple pre-existing health conditions and succumbed to dengue shock syndrome. Following the death, measures such as fogging and sprinkling pesticides are being undertaken to control the mosquito population. In addition, there have been 28 dengue cases recorded in the city, bringing the total count to nearly 800 since January. Mosquito breeding conditions have been identified in some homes, resulting in notices being issued to homeowners.
