Flood situation grim in Gujarat; over 12.4k shifted in 8 dists, 617 rescued
The flood situation in Bharuch and Ankleshwar, Gujarat remains severe as residential societies and farmlands are submerged. The heavy discharge from the Sardar Sarovar Dam has caused the Narmada waters to dangerously rise above the danger mark, leaving around 8,000 people helpless as their valuables and belongings float. Train movement on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route has resumed slowly, but traffic on the national highway near Bharuch is chaotic. Over 12,500 people have been shifted to safer locations and 617 stranded individuals have been rescued. The worst-affected districts include Bharuch, Narmada, Vadodara, Dahod, Panchmahal, and Anand.
