Goa: ‘Rank offender’ fined Rs 5 lakh for repeated CRZ violations
The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on a violator who was first found in 2012 to have constructed 18 cottages illegally in the CRZ area at Calangute. The offender was held a rank violator, as he went up to the Supreme Court to get the demolition notice quashed, but did not carry out the demolition even after the apex court upheld the GCZMA demolition order.
