Mayawati: Muslim consolidation split vote
After BSP wipeout in the UPpolls, party chief Mayawati in her first reaction to the poor show, cited Muslim consolidation behind SP as a key reason for triggering a shift of other communities towards BJP and splitting her core vote-bank, reports Neha Lalchandani. Admitting the party had hit its lowest phase with just one seat in its kitty and less than 13% vote share, she said, nothing could be worse than the current poll result and thus there was a promise of a better future for BSP. Stating that she suffered for placing her trust on the minority community, Maya said this was a big lesson for BSP which will bring about a strategy change while moving ahead.
