Pb can mobilise Rs 38,500 cr without addl taxes: Ranjit Singh Ghuman
All political parties promised freebies and subsidies to woo voters in financially-strained Punjab ahead of the February 20 state assembly polls without indicating the possible sources of revenue that would be required for the purpose. Professor of eminence at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, Ranjit Singh Ghuman, tells TOI's Sanjeev Verma that due to intellectual bankruptcy and policy paralysis, Punjab will have to utilise nearly 97% of the total revenue receipts to only meet financial commitments of freebies and existing public debt interest payment.
