Saffron blends with green: 61% Ayodhya votes
The poll buzz was unmistakeable at Hindutva nerve centre, Ayodhya, with residents, including saffron-clad sadhus queuing up to polling booths to seal the fate of political aspirants. Despite the political frenzy, polling passed off peacefully in the temple town amidst friendly arguments between supporters of rival parties. Ayodhya district with 2.24crore eligible voters and 692 candidates in fray, clocked a healthy turnout of 61%, surpassing its 2017 figure of 58%.
