Why back-to-back FIRs against Azam: SC to UP govt
The Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned the Uttar Pradesh government for lodging one after another FIRs against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and sought response from it on the plea of the politician alleging that he was being harassed and cases were being filed to keep him in custody "What is this? He has been jail since two years. One or two cases is okay but it cannot be in 89 cases. Whenever he gets bail, he is again sent to jail in some other matter...This chain will continue and prior to his release a fresh FIR would be filed," a bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao, B R Gavai and A S Bopanna said.
