Thal Kedar to be first bio heritage site of U’khand
The Thal Kedar forest in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, is set to become the state's first Biodiversity Heritage Site (BHS). The forest is known for its temperate forest and is home to over 350 rare and threatened plant and animal species. The BHS tag will help protect the forest from development and attract tourists. The revenue generated will be used to support the conservation of the forest. Two more sites in Uttarkashi and one each in Pithoragarh and Tehri are also earmarked for the BHS tag.
